I’m thrilled to share the news that Symptoms of Being Human has won the 2021 Nutmeg Book Award in the High School category. It’s an honor to have my work nominated among books by such talented and accomplished authors as National Book Award finalist Randy Ribay (also my cousin!), Carnegie Medal winner Ruta Sepetys, Elizabeth Acevedo, and more.
Nominees are chosen by a committee of students, librarians, and library media specialists and must be “well-written, with strong characterization, vivid setting, striking language, a well-constructed plot, and plausible conclusion.” The winner is selected in a vote by students in grades 9-12.
