I love watching videos about the creative process–so I made one! In this video, I share my method for turning dreams into real-world goals that draw you into immediate action.
I LAUGHED SO HARD AT “Wishata… population you. *finger swirling*”
And then proceeded to replay it several times.
These six secrets are also very relatable to plot development with the protagonist. They need to have a desire that’s measurable, controllable, and they’re drawn into action! Of course with fiction you can smudge a few lines, so as the soccer mom attempts to save planet Earth from an alien invasion single-handedly (not very controllable), Zues, her baby daddy, flies down from Olympus and helps.
Then of course creating conflict with their goals is one of the main parts of story telling, so a protagonist should at least have the three criteria which, undoubtedly, becomes thwarted.

Dude, that was rad! Am definitely the type. Huge amorphous ambitions; itty bitty ideas of how to get there. Cheers.
Jeff Garvin
Thanks, Josh. +1 for your use of “amorphous.”

I kind of wish that we lived in the wizarding world so that I could put this video on a poster in my workspace. Great advice.

The Google needs to work on that.
